ECKART Effect Pigments
Project Manager, New Business Development
Has been with the company since:
Sep. 1, 1988
Please describe us your professional experiences to date
After high school (Hauptschule), I learned the profession of chemical plant worker. Furthermore, while working, I successfully completed the foreman (chemical) apprenticeship and then later one for technical business administration IHK.
You are already working for ECKART for many years. What were the positions you have held up to now?
I started my chemical plant worker apprenticeship with ECKART on September 1, 1988. Afterwards, I was assigned to work second and third-shift. While still working, in 1995 I started the three-year foreman (chemical) apprenticeship. This apprenticeship was promoted and supported by ECKART.
In 2000, I took over the scheduling for the SiO2-coated aluminum pigments (Hydrolan). After the part-time, two-and-a-half-year, technical business administration IHK apprenticeship, I became the group leader of Production Hyrdolan. My tasks included managing personnel, creating production schedules, continually improving processes, and being in close contact with QC and application technology.
In 2009, I accepted a new challenge and was a member in the project group new business segments (Noventus). In that role, I evaluated new market opportunities for ECKART and implemented them. In addition, I have been participating in the group-wide management training program ("Development Program Germany") since 2010.
Please describe your typical work day
On account of my role in New Business Development (NBD), my work day is very multifaceted. I test the market for new applications, in which our products or our expertise could be utilized, and check to see if patents already exist in this regard. This is accomplished on the Internet, via measurements and on-site visits with customers. There are also meetings with customers, partners and suppliers. Internally, a close cooperation with research, the technical center and production is necessary in order to be able to attend to the requirements of the market. In doing so, the focus is primarily on the coordination of the different interests and people. For promising projects, business plans need to be created and market assessments need to be done.
What does innovation mean to you?
First of all, innovation requires the constant monitoring of the market. Being in very close contact with the customers helps to recognize trends early. Because that is the goal, to take advantage of opportunities as they come up by offering new, unique products, to assume a market-leading position and to continue to further develop.
How have you become aware of ALTANA?
ALTANA is a trend-setting and innovative company. It offers me job security into the future with many options for personal further development and interesting opportunities for advancement.
