Dwarfs are revolutionizing materials technology.

The automotive, aviation and shipbuilding industries are in constant need of new, ever lighter materials.
In meeting this need, ALTANA will be in the vanguard of the future: with solutions from the dwarf-world of nanotechnology. Sophisticated calculations show that tiny carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are 400 times stronger than steel or aluminum and 20 times stronger than conventional carbon fibers – and will spark a lightweight revolution affecting materials of the future. The greatest technical challenge is the distribution of CNTs within the matrix. ALTANA dispersing additives ensure an even distribution of CNTs, for example in light, sturdy plastic parts or in automobile tires that minimize rolling resistance.
