Core management tools for increasing performance include the measurement of performance indicators, the definition of goals, the development and implementation of action plans, and the review of target attainment. The latter is part of the target evaluation that determines the variable income components of executive managers. We switched the reporting year from the calendar year to the period from October 1st to September 30th to have the necessary data available at the right time. Because of this switch and for better comparability with previous years, the data for 2011 were projected for one year on the basis of nine months.
