On the safety performance indicators
Thanks to the measures discussed in Section 3 and earlier initiatives, we were able to reduce WAI 1 (number of occupational accidents with lost work time of more than 1 day per million working hours) from 15.2 (2006) to 7.4 (2011). We did not reach our goal of WAI 1 below 4.5. On the other hand, reduced WAI 3
(number of lost work days due to occupational accidents per million working hours) from 185 (2006) to 68 (2011) and ex ceeded our goal of bringing WAI 3 to 80. This is a particularly positive development because the number of severe accidents declined, resulting in financial savings in occupational safety.
