BYK-Chemie Focuses on Nanotechnology

Presentation of the nano additives at “nano tech 2006”in Tokyo

From February 21-23, 2006, BYK-Chemie will be presenting its nanotechnology based additive range NANOBYK for the very first time at “nano tech 2006” in Tokyo (Japan) – in Hall 4, in the German Pavilion, booth A-06D.

“nano tech 2006” is the world’s biggest event in the nanotechnology sector. The combination of specialist trade fair and extensive congress program will be taking place this year for the fifth time in succession. Around 740 exhibitors from all over the world will be presenting their products and services in 350 exhibition booths. The organizers are expecting over 45,000 visitors.

As one of the worldwide leading suppliers in the field of paint and plastic additives, BYK-Chemie has heavily influenced the development of nanotechnology from the start and is consistently setting new trends in this area. “We recognized early that this technology will open up completely new horizons in the paint and plastics industry,” Dr. Roland Peter, Chairman of the Management Board BYK-Chemie, states. In close collaboration with Nanophase Technology Corporation (NTC), USA, BYK-Chemie has been developing nanotechnology based additives for paint and plastics systems since 2004.

The first series of nano-additives NANOBYK – comprising the products NANOBYK-3600, NANOBYK-3601, NANOBYK-3602, NANOBYK-3610 and NANOBYK-3650 – has already been successfully launched on the market and is to be exhibited at “nano tech 2006”.

Nano-additives noticeably improve the scratch and abrasion resistance of (UV-cured) surfaces and contain at the same time all the other major coating properties like gloss, shade, flexibility and adhesion.

In October 2005 an Internet site specially designed for the nano-additives of BYK-Chemie was launched: www.nanobyk.com
