Ulrike Flach, Member of the German Bundestag visits BYK-Chemie Wesel

Wesel, July 21, 2004 – Ulrike Flach today visited BYK-Chemie, Wesel, a company of ALTANA Chemie AG. The FDP politician is a Member of the German Bundestag, Chair of the Committee for Education, Research and Technology Assessment, and Deputy Regional Chair for the FDP in North Rhine-Westphalia. Ulrike Flach was accompanied by Friedrich Eifert, Chair of the FDP Group Wesel.


The focus of the visit to Wesel was an informative exchange of views concerning the research, development and application technology of BYK-Chemie as it affects the status of Germany as a business location. Dr Roland Peter, Chairman of the Management Board of BYK-Chemie, and Dr. Andreas Diez, Managing Director of Technology and Materials Management, also made clear the opportunities and risks of the EU’s chemicals policy. This was followed by a tour of the application technology research labs and the new production plant.
