Management Board Responsibility Statement
The consolidated financial statements have been prepared by the Management Board
of ALTANA AG, which is responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the information
contained therein.
The consolidated financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the
International
Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), as endorsed by the EU and in accordance
with the requirements of German commercial law pursuant to section 315a of the German
Commercial Code (HGB).
The information contained in the consolidated financial statements and the Group
Management Report is based on the information reported, in accordance with consistent
guidelines in force throughout the Group by the companies included in the consolidated
financial
statements. The integrity of the reporting process is safeguarded by effective internal
control systems established at these companies under the direction of the Management
Board. This assures a true and fair view of the performance and results of the Group
and enables the Management Board to recognize potential investment risks and negative
developments
at an early stage and take appropriate countermeasures.
By resolution of the Annual General Meeting, the Chairman of the Audit Committee of
the Supervisory Board appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers Aktiengesellschaft Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft
as independent auditor of the consolidated financial statements. The
auditors’ report is reproduced on the following page. The consolidated financial statements,
the Group Management Report and the auditors’ report have been made available to
the Supervisory Board for detailed discussion. The report of the Supervisory Board is contained
on pages 14 – 17 of the Annual and Sustainability Report 2016.
To the best of our knowledge and in accordance with the applicable reporting principles the
consolidated financial statements give a true and fair view of the net assets, financial position
and results of operations of the Group and the Group Management Report includes a
fair review of the development and performance of the business and the position of the
Group, together with a description of the principal opportunities and risks associated with the
expected development of the Group.
