ALTANA receives EcoVadis Gold Medal – sustainability performance confirmed once again

  • Last year’s result improved once again
  • ALTANA is thus among the top 5 percent of all companies evaluated worldwide

Wesel, July 22, 2026 – The ALTANA Group has achieved its best result to date in the latest sustainability rating from the international assessment platform EcoVadis, scoring 85 out of 100 points. Compared to last year’s already very strong result, the specialty chemicals group was able to improve by another point. Based on the current EcoVadis assessment criteria, ALTANA was awarded the Gold Medal.

The improved overall rating reflects the company’s continued performance in sustainability across all divisions. With this result, ALTANA and its divisions BYK, ECKART, ELANTAS, and ACTEGA, rank among the top 5 percent of all companies evaluated worldwide, across all industries.

“We are very pleased with this result,” says Dr. Tammo Boinowitz, member of the Management Board of ALTANA AG. “The further increase in our score confirms that sustainability is firmly anchored in our business practices and is having an increasing impact.”

Combining sustainable and profitable growth
The latest evaluation once again confirms ALTANA’s course of combining sustainable and profitable growth. The company is convinced that long-term economic success is only possible if environmental and social responsibility are given equal consideration. This commitment is an integral part of the Group’s strategy.

With innovative solutions, the specialty chemicals group helps customers make their products more sustainable. For example, these solutions enable the recycling of packaging, make battery production more efficient, and help ensure that the world’s largest wind turbines can generate green electricity for decades to come. At the same time, ALTANA is working consistently to reduce its own carbon footprint and achieve net-zero emissions globally by 2050.

External assessments by organizations such as EcoVadis create transparency for customers, business partners, and employees. At the same time, they provide important impetus for the continuous development of sustainability activities. EcoVadis has become one of the leading assessment platforms for the chemical industry. Today, tens of thousands of companies work with EcoVadis. The rating service evaluates companies across four categories: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The methodology is based on internationally recognized standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the principles of the UN Global Compact, and the ISO 26000 standard.
