BYK’s preparations for the K 2016 in Düsseldorf gather pace

K, the World’s No. 1 Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber, like some magnetically charismatic point of attraction for the entire plastics industry, is already in the blocks and raring to go.

With its broad portfolio for the composites segment, BYK Additives & Instruments, as a leading manufacturer of additives and measuring instruments for the plastics and coatings industry, is to be represented at K 2016 in Düsseldorf, where it will be showcasing some highly interesting solutions  -for the automotive industry, for instance - from October
19 to 26, 2016 in Hall 5, Stand E 17
, over approx. 150 m2 floor space.

High-performance composites assist current lightweight construction developments in the automotive industry in a sustainable way. BYK additives play a major part in this. They can be used in composites consisting of both thermoset-based and thermoplastic-based materials. BYK additives from the SCONA range, for example, improve the use of carbon fibers in composites - made of polypropylene or polyamide, etc. - and thus enable optimum technical solutions to be found for highend car bodies. The main advantages are significantly lighter lightweight structures, improved mechanical properties and, as a result, considerably reduced emissions.

About BYK Additives & Instruments:

BYK Additives & Instruments is one of the world’s leading suppliers in the field of additives and measuring instruments.

Additives are chemical substances which, when used in small quantities, improve product properties such as scratch resistance or surface gloss. Manufacturing processes are also optimized by the addition of additives.

The coatings, inks and plastics industries are among the main consumers of BYK additives. Yet with oil production, the manufacture of care products, paper surface finishing, the manufacture of adhesives and sealants, or construction chemistry, too, BYK additives improve the product characteristics and production processes.
Testing and measuring instruments from BYK can effectively evaluate the quality of color, gloss and appearance as well as the physical properties of paint, plastic and paper products and are an important part of quality control.

As a globally operating specialty chemicals company, BYK has production sites in Wesel, Kempen, Moosburg , Schkopau and Geretsried (Germany), Deventer and Denekamp (Netherlands), Widnes (UK), Wallingford, Chester, Gonzales, Louisville (USA) and Tongling (China).

Today the company employs around 2,000 people worldwide and forms part of the ALTANA Group.
