Our employees are our most important resource. Throughout the ALTANA Group more than 6,000 people work to ensure the success of ALTANA worldwide. Through its subsidiaries ALTANA is present in 26 countries around the world. The companies in the ALTANA Group are represented on four continents. This means that in all regions our products and services are very close to our customers. In addition, we believe that being close to customers means more than just being available – our key positions staffed by local employees mean that we speak the language of our customers and are thus in a better position to react more quickly to their individual wishes.
In this sense, international assignments gain more and more importance for ALTANA. Sharing best-practices, learning from each other and imparting knowledge beyond boundaries, whether between individual companies, countries, or fields of activities are key issues for the development of our global company.
Qualified employees are the bedrock of ALTANA’s continuous growth. But demographic change and the looming lack of qualified staff will pose special challenges in the future. Against this backdrop, ALTANA’s Management Board has set itself an ambitious goal: By 2020, 70 percent of all vacant management positions are to be occupied internally. In addition, by 2025 the management teams should reflect ALTANA’s internationalism as well as the share of women in the total workforce.
Diversity Management is deeply anchored in our human-resources management. Promoting women in management positions is hereby a special focus. The proportion of women in ALTANA’s various national and international management development programs was increased significantly in recent years. In addition, our further education program includes special offers for women.
Beginning with our choice of employees, we make a concerted effort to hire people whose knowledge and abilities, as well as technical and social skills, fit our group.
We need to close the gender gap and mobilize people to unlock our full potential.
